Prenatal, Birth, & Postpartum Support
Are you new to Madrid?
Are you struggling to understand differences between your home country’s maternity care and maternity care in Spain?
Are you living far from family and your usual support system?
Do you speak little to no Spanish?
Are you looking for one-to-one support to prepare for birth and postpartum?
If any of that sounds like you, you may be looking for a doula.
Research shows women who have doulas experience higher satisfaction in labor and postpartum.
When facing language or cultural differences, benefits of a doula are even more pronounced!
All my services can be online or in-person. I offer:
A doula listens to and supports a mother during pregnancy, birth, and/or postpartum.
Whether you're planning a hospital induction or a homebirth, a C-section or a VBAC (vaginal birth after a C-section), no pain medication during labor or an epidural, breastfeeding or bottle feeding, a doula will support you and every decision you make along the way.
Pregnancy can be a confusing, thrilling, lovely, or scary time -- these feelings may be even more extreme when living in a place that isn't your home country. As you navigate the world of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum here in Madrid, I can provide information about the healthcare system, discuss birth and post-partum care options with you, accompany you to prenatal appointments (and translate if you wish), and/or make home visits after your baby arrives.
A doula is not a medical provider and will not practice medicine or offer medical advice at any time.
A midwife is healthcare provider who is a trained nurse who has then specialized in midwifery.
A doula will not try to convince you of any particular method or sway a decision made at any time. A doula is a support person there for the sole purpose of accompanying, supporting, and actively listening to the birthing person (and partner if applicable).
